Homeless Woman Arrested After Living in Man’s Closet for a Year

A homeless woman in Japan was arrested after it was discovered she had been living in a man’s closet for more than a year, unbeknownst to the homeowner.

The man had no idea that the woman had made herself at home until he began noticing food was missing. After becoming suspicious the man installed security cameras in the house which captured an image of a person. He contacted police who arrived at the residence but noticed the doors had been locked and the windows closed.

They searched the home without any luck until they opened the shelf closet and noticed the woman. According to the police report the woman had moved a small mattress into the hideaway, she told the officers she had been in the house for more than a year.

She was arrested for trespassing.
