Pakistani Teacher Beats Blind Student to Death for Not Learning the Koran
Pakistani police are investigating the murder of a seven-year-old blind boy after he was beaten to death by his teacher for not learning the Koran.
The teacher, Qari Ziauddin, became frustrated with Muhammad Atif after he failed to adequately learn the Koran. To discipline Atif the teacher hung him upside down from a ceiling fan and administered a beating with sticks.
After delivering the beating at the Islamic school Ziauddin neglected to take Atif to a hospital. Police have confirmed that Atif died as a result of the attack.
Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani was angered by the incident and ordered the investigation.
