Starbucks Logo Leads to Christian Group Calling for Boycott of “Slutbucks”

The recently revealed new logo of Starbucks was intended to pay homage to the coffee giant’s original decal yet a Christian group has labeled the bare-breasted mermaid a “siren,” the mythological figure that lured sailors in with a beautiful song before killing them.

Starbucks has used the image for their Pike Place bags of coffee, the blend that bears the name of their original store, but they recently placed the logo on their cups for a promotion.

Now the Christian group The Resistance, based in San Diego, has called for a boycott of the company due to the graphic imagery detailed. Group founder Mark Dice noted, “It’s extremely poor taste, and the company might as well call themselves, Slutbucks.”

Dice likened the image to a “prostitute.”

The Resistance has listed their membership at 3,000 people.
