Toyota Recalls 400,000 Cars

Toyota Motor Corp. announced Thursday the recall of more than 400,000 older-model vehicles. Toyota cited potential problems with the cars’ steering lock bar and steering shaft as the reason for the recall.

The recall includes 373,000 Toyota Avalons manufactured between 2000 and 2004 and 39,000 Lexus LX 470s manufactured between 2003 and 2007.

Owners of the affected models can take their vehicle to any Toyota dealership to have it fixed at no charge.

Toyota has recalled more than 8 million vehicles this year due to several safety issues, including unintended acceleration.
