Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton is expected to take the Puerto Rico primary on Sunday but questions remain whether that will be enough to keep her in the race against rival Barack Obama.
According to early returns Clinton could pick up 35 delegates compared to 20 for Obama yet those 20 push him within shot of securing enough delegates to earn the Democratic presidential nomination.
Obama was 66 delegates shy of the 2,118 needed for nomination and he is expected to reach that number with two more primaries left and several superdelegates ready to endorse him. Both Montana and South Dakota will hold their primaries on Tuesday.
Clinton headed into Puerto Rico with 1,877 delegates and no realistic chance of reaching the required number for the nomination. She could still carry her fight to the Democratic National Convention and make the argument she would be a better candidate than Obama against Republican nominee John McCain.
