An overloaded boat carrying passengers and goods has capsized on the Kasai river in the Democratic Republic of Congo, killing as many as 140 people.
According to reports the boat had been travelling to the capital city of Kinshasa from Mushie when it struck a mud bank and capsized.
Because most of the DR Congo is without paved roads or railways the majority of people rely on boats when traveling, making overcrowding a common problem.
