The Tampa D-Rays are playing arguably the best baseball in the country and the whole baseball world is talking about them. Everyone wants to know if they will be able to keep it up and be able to retain a position up at the top of the AL East. Time will tell but from what fans can see now, these Rays are not the same of the past.
The pitching has really been the biggest turnaround from them. Their young pitchers are mixing in with the veteran pitchers they do have to make a formable staff. Closer Troy Percival did recently just go on the DL list but he has really lead the charge for their turn around and the Rays do have options to hold the front down until he gets back.
With their win on Sunday, they took 3 of 4 from the first place AL Central White Sox and retain their first place status. Scott Kazmir has not missed a beat since returning from the DL and everyone else is following suit. The real challenge is if the young pitching staff can keep this up for an entire year. When it hits July and August in the time many say are the dog days of summer if the arms will be able to hold up. Until then, the Rays have to be looked at for what they are and that is a winning ball club. It sounds strange but look at their 35-22 overall record.
