The Cubbies On Top Of Baseball

Once known as the loveable losers, this year Cubs have brought back the consistent winning attitude to Chicago and has the baseball world wondering if this will be the year the Cubs finally win it all. With a successful home stand sweeping the NL West teams such Dodgers and Rockies, the Cubs are in great position on top of the NL Central and of baseball with a 36-21 record.

Staff ace Carlos Zambrano is now 7-1 on the season and could be on his way to a 20 win season and a Cy Young award season. Ted Lilly has turned it around after a rough start to pull his record to 5-4 and Dempster has been a great new spark in the rotation with a 7-2 record. Soriano is starting to back in the swing of things at the plate and putting more balls in play.

Ramirez, Soto, and Lee are swinging the bats as well as anyone in the league and providing the Cubs will a solid overall lineup. The Cubs will have to see if everyone can stick together for long term for the season. Kerry Wood has to stay healthy and continue to do well in the closers role for the first time.

Chicago is getting use to hearing the victory song at the end of the Cub's home games and maybe this is the year Wrigley field hears it at the end of October.
