According to recent reports, Simon Cowell is not the only American Idol judge who will not be returning for the next season of the show. On Thursday, famous comedian and talk show host Ellen Degeneres, who was featured as a judge last season, announced that she would not return as a judge for the next season of American Idol. And according to a report from TMZ.com, sources with knowledge of the show's negotiations say Kara DioGuardi has been fired from the judging lineup. According to TMZ's sources, the new panel will return to the original 3-judge format and will consist of Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, and Steven Tyler. After Cowell left, there were concerns if Idol would be able to find a judge who could keep fans interested and excited about the show. Well, if the reports are true, the show will definitely have a healthy amount of star power next season. Only time, however, will be able to tell us if a Cowell-less Idol can survive. Degeneres told Access Hollywood on Thursday that "A couple months ago, I let FOX and the 'American Idol' producers know that this didn't feel like the right fit for me. I told them I wouldn't leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next." Well, if the reports are true, the show's executives have figured where they want to take the panel next.
