Brigitte Bardot Convicted in Racial Hatred Case

Former actress Brigitte Bardot was convicted of provoking racial hatred by a French court Tuesday. Bardot was fined $23,325 for writing that Muslims are destroying France.

Anti-racism group MRAP filed a lawsuit against the 73-year-old after she wrote a letter to then Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy saying France is “tired of being led by the nose by this population that is destroying us, destroying our country by imposing its acts.”

Bardot’s “racial hatred” letter was sparked by the celebration of a Muslim feast in which they slaughter sheep. This is the actress’ fifth conviction for “inciting racial hatred.”
