Authorities in Paris said traffic was snarled on several highways as dozens of trucks and taxis protested a new tax on heavily polluting vehicles.
Fishermen from around the United Kingdom gathered Tuesday in central London to seek financial support from the government to counter soaring fuel costs.
World oil prices remain at record high levels after topping at $135 a barrel on May 22.
