Israel Threatens to Attack Iran if Nuclear Arms Program Continues

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has already stated Iran’s nuclear arms program must be stopped by any means necessary and now Deputy Prime Minister Shaul Mofaz has ruled out sanctions, calling them ineffective, thus opening the door for military action against their neighbor.

Mofaz held little hope that the conflict could be ended without violence stating, “Attacking Iran, in order to stop its nuclear plans, will be unavoidable.”

Earlier in the week Olmert issued a similar sentiment, “The international community has a duty and responsibility to clarify to Iran, through drastic measures, that the repercussions of their continued pursuit of nuclear weapons will be devastating.”

Iran has insisted their nuclear program is for peaceful purposes yet they continue their uranium enrichment program despite a UN Security Council demand to stop.
