Former ‘80s pop star and Wham! frontman George Michael recently ran into trouble with the law again, with alleged substance abuse to blame. The British singer was arrested on July 4 on suspicion of being unfit to drive, according to the BBC.
It’s a familiar story, but why do some stars seem to attract this sort of thing?
Michael has been arrested before. In June 2007 he was banned from driving in his native England for two years after pleading guilty to driving while unfit through drugs. For many, that would have been hitting bottom, but Michael either didn’t get help or has relapsed.
It makes you wonder why some individuals get help for addiction and are able to turn their lives around while others seem to struggle much more with the recovery process.
This time around, police received reports that a car had crashed into a building in north London. Following the arrest, Michael was taken to a north London police station where he was released on bail, but he is due back in court in August. Meanwhile, police will continue to investigate the incident in Hampstead.
