James Delayo, a veteran assistant chief inspector with New York City’s cranes and derricks division, has been charged with corruption following an investigation that revealed he received thousands of dollars to falsify records and reports.
Delayo was said to have taken money from a crane company but the city said the actions played no part in the two recent crane accidents that killed nine people.
The investigation revealed Delayo had provided a crane company with answers to crane operator exams.
