Pervez Musharraf Insists He Will Not Resign

Pakistan’s president Pervez Musharraf has declared once again that he has no intention of resigning despite heavy criticism from several members of the current government.

Despite his allies being defeated in the February elections Musharraf has held tight his position as president and ignored the critics who have said the General has lost the support of the public and faces heavy resistance within the government.

Musharraf has insisted he supports the current government but is facing challenges as changes have been proposed that could limit his power.

Having assumed power following a coup in 1999 the reduction of influence is not something Musharraf would favor. He has been quoted as saying, “I can't become a useless vegetable.”
