Earthquake in Southern Greece Kills at least 2, More Than 20 Injured

A strong earthquake shook southern Greece on Sunday killing at least two people, injuring more than 20 and causing buildings and homes to collapse and leaving roads in ruins.

The magnitude 6.5 temblor struck about 124 miles west of Athens near Patras in the Peloponnese region and lasted for nearly one minute.

A 60-year-old man was killed when the roof to his home collapsed while an 80-year-old woman suffered a heart attack when the quake struck.

Residents have been warned that aftershocks are likely as the quake was close to the ground’s surface.
