IBM has raised $1.5 billion from bond sale. It has issued 3-year 1% coupon notes, the lowest among 3,400 securities in the Barclays Capital U.S Composite Index of investment grade company debt.

 

IBM has acquired Coremetrics, a leader in Web analytics software based in San Mateo, CA. IBM plans to expand its business analytics capabilities with the help or Coremetrics. The company would be able to use cloud computing services to develop faster, more targeted marketing campaigns.

 

"With this acquisition, IBM will give clients greater insight about customer behaviour and sentiment about products and services, and give true foresight into their future buying patterns," said Craig Hayman, general manager, Industry Solutions for IBM Software Group.

 

IBM on Thursday reported that the company had reached definite agreement to buy Marlborough based Storwize. Storwize provides real time data compression technology, Random Access Compression Engine (RACE), this helps clients reduce physical storage requirements up to 80%. This lower cost and improves efficiency of availability of the data for analytical applications. Storwize helps slow the growth of storage acquisition and related storage life-cycle costs, including reducing the amount of storage to be managed, powered and cooled.
