CONTRAST MEDIA PRESS LAUNCHES SAFE STREETS TITLE FOR SAFER STREETS WHERE THEY'RE NEEDED MOST.

Liberty Publisher has an interesting new take on Safe Streets that major cities refuse.

Publisher John Longenecker’s useful idea for major cities is already appreciated by more than 80 million adults in this country, and it doesn’t involve more guns: it involves more Liberty and the official recognition of citizen authority in our oversight of officials, and not the other way around.

"With the debate on guns on campus, workplace, airports and elsewhere, many officials are consulting other officials instead of hearing from the supreme authority in this country, the constituents. In fact, the adult constituent is frozen out." says Longenecker. "In truth, no one is talking about guns on campus, it’s all over who has oversight over whom, and by law, the people have oversight - and authority - over both trustees and law enforcement. It's a rather simple argument over something we really must learn if we expect to live again on safe streets."

The deepest complaint is not about guns, it’s about official defiance of the law, and the law is supportive of gun owners in most states. Longenecker is quick to point out that not only have the fears against gun-toting everyman Joe and Josephine Taxpayer never materialized, but the states admit they have not been made to regret affirming right-to-carry in their state after more than decades to appraise it.

"Safe Streets is an important title in our 2008 Premier Catalog for our mission of linking Freedom and LIberty to Human Dignity," he adds, "and that self-rule is just as important to the health of the planet as the environment is."

Contrast Media Press's position is that Corporate Social Responsibility involves Liberty as much as Green, and that includes citizen authority.

When it comes to armed self-defense, right-to-carry advocates are not only talking about being safer from thugs, but being safer from this very kind of abuse of the law which substantially contributes to higher violence statistics and loss of life.

80 million gun owners span all fifty states, and 48 states affirm carrying weapons with some requirements met. But the trouble is in the major cities where a state’s right-to-carry law is defied, and a new pattern and practice of abuse is identified –defiance of that state’s right-to-carry law (as in gun bans) and forcing students, workers and visitors to sue for higher protection of their civil right to carry.

"Higher courts have found that you don’t check your civil rights at the door," says Longenecker. "and the right is better established than most Americans know. Furthermore, what 80 million gun owners knew all along is what the entire world learned in Hurricane Katrina, namely that the government cannot protect you. Then, it must protect your right to protect yourself in the public interest."

Safe Streets observes that one District Court has found the City of New Orleans in contempt of court for refusing to return weapons confiscated illegally. Washington, D.C.'s gun ban - already overturned by its own District Court - is again under review now by the United States Supreme Court this month, and one college campus's trustees are reported to be making a quiet lawsuit settlement.
