Rescue workers have made contact with 21 Ukrainian coal miners who were trapped following a gas explosion at the Karl Marx mine in Yenakiyevo on Sunday.
Two miners were rescued about 2,460 feet into the mine while two separate groups were believed to be much deeper.
The process of bringing the 21 coal miners is underway but could take some time due to the danger involved. An additional 14 miners are believed trapped and rescuers have yet to make contact with the men.
There is a rush to find those men as experts fear the mine could be flooded by underground water,
