Legally named Madonna Louise Ciccone Ritchie, Madonna is a Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter, dancer, musician, record producer and Golden Globe winning actress. Considered “the greatest pop act of all time,” Madonna is often referred to as the “Queen of Pop.” As a child, the young Madonna aspired to become a ballet dancer under the guidance of choreographer Alvin Ailey. She is called the “Best Selling Female Rock Artist of the Twentieth Century” by the Recording Industry Association of America. She is second only in record sales to Barbra Streisand.
