The young fighting Pirates have played good baseball up to this point in the season with a 30-33 record and that is something to be said in one of the toughest divisions in baseball this season the NL Central. That has really surprised many people that the division has been so competitive and everyone team seems to still have a shot and different strengths that makes them unique from the rest.
The Pirates young pitching has struggled at times through the early point of the season but their offense has really made up for it. They have scored a total of 304 runs and have three players Bay, Nady, and McLouth with 34 RBI's or more in their lineup.
Manager John Russell has the young team believing that they can not only compete but they can win games. The talent is there for the Pirates, it’s just up to the players to produce when given the opportunities to do so.
The vibrate Pirates will have to continue to stay focus and ready to play through the long stretches of the summer especially with the way the rest of the division has played. Young and energetic play is starting to rub off on all the teams in the division and the Pirates believe that their young talent is as good as anyone in the division.
