Rainy Days For Mariners A Mystery

What happen to the team that the baseball world was predicting to get off to a good start and make their claim in the AL West a division that everyone thought was wide open and would be easy for the Mariners for capture. Not, so fast said the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim who have continued to show the standard in the division that they are still the team to beat.

The Mariners today announced that they have decided to let go hitting coach Jeff Pentland and replaced him with Lee Elia, who held the job under former manager Lou Piniella from the 1993-97 seasons. This is not a very big surprised coming from a team who's offense has looked as bad as they possibly could be and things just don't seem to be looking to change.

The Mariners have buried themselves in a division that has proven to be tough and teams who can hit the baseball unlike them. The A's continue to impress with their great play and the Rangers who were at one point were considering firing their manager has played some of the most inspiring baseball over the last month.

All of these teams are playing good baseball and have something to play for even in June, while the Mariners and their fans are scratching their hands on what went wrong. They have scored a total of just 253 and have allowed 317 runs. On a given night, their pitchers know that they will not be getting much run support to work with so they have to keep the game close.

The season seems to be all but over for the Mariners and for a team that was thought of to be a team who could possibly be in the World Series, is now wondering how many games will they end up losing.
