After the senior leader of MQM, Raza Haider, was killed, the number of deaths has risen to 63 due to the outbreak of riots in Karachi.
Since the death of Haider, there has been a complete halt in the city's normal commercial activity. Most businesses are closed.
In response to the violence erupting in the city, Police have arrested over 40 suspects, 20 of which are suspected to be connected to Haider's murder, which took place in a mosque, where he was making ablutions for prayer.
According to Haider's grieving party members, Haider may have been targeted by "jihadists" due to his strong opposition of the Taliban and other oppressive Islamic militant groups.
