“Paris” and “pot” aren’t two words you see together too often, but Google them together these days and you’ll get an eyeful about Paris Hilton and her recent issues with marijuana possession while traveling overseas.
It started earlier this month in South Africa when Hilton ran into a problem while attending the World Cup. She had allegedly been smoking marijuana and was questioned by the South African police before being released and cleared of any wrongdoing. Then, barely two weeks later, Hilton was held by police on the French island of Corsica -- and again pot was the problem. This time, authorities allege that Hilton had less than a gram of marijuana in her purse, according to reports by People magazine.
Despite the legal troubles, Hilton seemed upbeat when taking to Twitter that same week “to put an end to these rumors.” The socialite insisted that stories that say she was arrested are “completely false.”
Tell that to the officers who detained Hilton and a friend at Nelson Mandela Bay stadium. Hilton was only released after a traveling companion named Jennifer Rovero pleaded guilty to possession charges and now faces a fine.
While Hilton doesn’t face any charges in either incident, it seems she’s playing a game of semantics. She may not have been placed under arrest in either incident, but that’s different but being completely innocent.
