Martin Bashir Leaves Nightline, Heads to NBC

Martin Bashir has left his job as co-anchor of ABC’s Nightline and accepted a position at NBC news. Besides anchoring a daily afternoon news show on MSNBC, Bashir will also contribute to Dateline. He starts in September.

"I am absolutely delighted to be joining MSNBC and NBC," Bashir said Wednesday. "This is a rare and special opportunity - to host a daily news and current affairs show and also work on long-form journalism both at MSNBC and with 'Dateline.' This is an enormous privilege and I cannot wait to get started."

Bill Weir will replace Bashir as co-anchor of Nightline alongside Terry Moran and Cynthia McFadden.
