Fire Breaks Out at Nuclear Weapons Base in Berkshire

A fire broke out at a nuclear weapons base in Aldermaston, Berkshire late Tuesday. The British Ministry of Defense said the fire started in “a building within the conventional non-nuclear explosives area” of Atomic Weapons Establishment. One person was injured.

The cause of the fire is unknown and is being investigated. Atomic Weapons Establishment is located 45 miles west of London.
