120 Killed in Sudan Plane Crash

A Sudan Airways plane crashed while landing at Khartoum Airport Tuesday, killing 120 of it 217 passengers and crew.

The Airbus A310 was inbound from Amman, Jordan when bad weather forced the pilot to abort his first landing attempt. The second attempt an hour later was made amidst a dust storm that limited visibility.

According to airport officials, the plane had landed safely and its pilot was being directed where to taxi when an explosion occurred. The pilot and all but one of the other 13 crew members survived.
