Northern California Wildfires Destroy Dozens of Homes, Thousands of Acres Scorched

Northern California is once again battling wildfires as areas to the north and south of Sacramento have been scorched by blazes that have claimed several dozen homes as charred thousands of acres.

At least 21 homes and 30 structures were destroyed and 1,600 acres of land lost in Palermo, about 60 miles north of Sacramento.

Strong winds south of Sacramento fanned the flames of another wildfire in Stockton where at least 30 homes were damaged or destroyed.

Firefighters have been forced to deal with the unpredictable winds that have fueled the wildfires and caused contained fires to rage out of control. While firefighters caught a break with cool weather on Tuesday night the heat and winds are expected to return on Wednesday, potentially causing more problems.
