E.D. Hill, the Fox News Channel political commentator, apologized Tuesday for her controversial comments about Sen. Barack Obama.
"America's Pulse", the show founded and hosted by Hill, has been rumored to be cancelled by Fox News, following the controversy of Hill's comments about Sen. Barack Obama's "fist bump" with his wife Michelle.
Last Friday, Hill began an upcoming discussion on the fist bump gesture Sen. Barack Obama shared with his wife, Michelle, saying, "A fist bump? A pound? A terrorist fist jab? The gesture everyone seems to interpret differently."
On Tuesday, Hill started her show with an apology about equating terrorism to Obama. "Want to start the show by clarifying something I said on the show last Friday about an upcoming body language segment," said Hill. "Now, I mentioned various ways the Obamas' fist pump in St. Paul had been characterized in the media."
"I apologize because unfortunately, some thought I personally had characterized it inappropriately," continued Hill. "I regret that. It was not my intention. And I certainly didn't mean to associate the word "terrorist" in any way to Senator Obama and his wife."
The gesture, which is referred to as a "pound" or "dap", is generally seen as a sign of endearment or accomplishment. It is very common in the African-American community and amongst American athletes.
Hill has been with Fox News since 1998. She co-anchored "Fox & Friends" for several years before moving to the 11am ET hour, then launching "America's Pulse".
