Austrian Incest Victim Expected to Make Full Recovery

Austrian doctors are optimistic that 19-year-old Kerstin Fritzl, the eldest child between Joseph Fritzl and his own daughter Elisabeth, will make a full recovery after suffering major organ failure in April.

It was Kerstin’s illness that brought the horrors of Elisabeth’s last 24 years to light as it became known that Joseph had imprisoned his daughter in a cellar and repeatedly raped her for more than two decades. Elisabeth gave birth to seven children over the years, one died in infancy.

Joseph Fritzl kept Elisabeth, Kerstin and two other children locked in the cellar while the other three lived in the house with him and his wife.

In April Kerstin grew increasingly sick and Joseph carried her to the hospital. Officials asked to speak with the mother of Kerstin and the next day Joseph brought Elisabeth to the hospital and she told workers what had happened over the past two decades.

Kerstin was placed in an induced coma while being treated and was just recently brought out of that coma

Joseph Fritzl has admitted to imprisoning and raping his daughter. He remains held pending charges.
