Empire Company Limited (TSE:EMP.A) to Release Q4 2008 Earnings June 26

Empire Company Limited (TSE:EMP.A) will release the fourth quarter earnings for 2008 on Thursday, June 26.  The financial results will be made available on the company’s Investor Relations website at empireco.ca/investor_cntre_quarterly_reports.asp?lang=1.

Empire Company Limited is a Canadian company whose key businesses include food retailing, and related real estate and corporate investment activities.

The Company operates principally in two business segments: food and real estate. The food segment includes distribution of food products in Canada. The real estate segment includes development and ownership of both commercial properties (shopping centers and office buildings in Central and Eastern Canada and residential properties) and residential properties (the development of housing lots for resale). In June 2007, Empire and Sobeys completed going private transaction.

Empire Company Limited acquired all of the outstanding common shares of Sobeys Inc. that it did not previously own. In April 2008, the Company announced that it and certain of its wholly owned subsidiaries, including Sobey Leased Properties Limited (SLP), have closed the sale of 61 retail properties to Crombie Real Estate Investment Trust.
