Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) announced Thursday that he is launching a new website to "fight the smears" throughout his campaign.
Obama, the Democratic presidential candidate, ahd his campaign have created "Fight The Smears" to dispel false rumors and allegations that have been said to or about him and his family throughout his presidential campaign.
Obama has been fighting rumors about his religion, patriotism, and relationships ever since he announced his candidacy in February 2007.
The site, which is located at www.fightthesmears.com, is going to allow Obama to personally respond to the rumors that the media have been publishing.
Last month, a blogger said that there is a tape of Michelle Obama, the senator's wife, saying the derogatory term "whitey" while on the pulpit at now-controversial Trinity United Church of Christ.
However, according to the Obama campaign team, the entire ordeal was a lie and smear tactic. Other rumors, such as Obama being Muslim, will all be tackled on his mission to "fight the smears".
FightTheSmears.com also details the history of each rumor, showing exactly when it was said and who started it.
