Moyer Schools Young Marlins

The ageless Jamie Moyer keeps getting it done at the age of 45 and never seems to be showing signs of stress on the mound. That again was case on Thursday night in Miami, in which he threw eight shutout innings to lead the first place NL East Phils to a 3-0 victory over the Marlins.

Moyer had everything working for him and the Marlins hitters were becoming more frustrated as the game went on. His changeup was probably the best he has had all season long and he really relied on that to keep the young aggressive hitters off balance.

With the win, Moyer improved his career record against the Marlins to an outstanding 9-0. Marlin's starting pitcher Scott Olsen held his own against Moyer for the most part until the Phils were finally able to break through in the top of the 6th.

The Phillies have gotten it done so far this season because of many different reasons and the word is that their starting rotation may be the weak spot on the team. If Moyer is able to deliver performances like this on a consistent basis to go along with staff ace Cole Hamels, the Phillies should be in great shape to continue their first place status.
