Tigers Sweep Away Sox

The Tigers are starting to realize that they have to start playing better baseball if they want to at least have a chance of playing for something in the Fall. The whole they have dug themselves in is going to be a challenge for them to overcome but it’s not impossible. They couldn't have picked a better time to possible start a good stretch of baseball by sweeping the first place White Sox out of town with a 2-1 victory at Comerica Bank on Thursday.

The low scoring win is a rare one for the Tigers, a team who usually have to score at least 4 runs to win a game. Kenny Rogers and Mark Buehrle gave their respective teams a well pitched game each going 8 innings of one run ball.

With the victory the Tigers are now eight games back of the AL Central leading Sox and they will open up a three game set with the Dodgers starting Friday at Comerica. The Tigers will have to continue the formula they used to sweep the Sox which was good pitching and defense.

With Zumaya and Rodney on the heels of coming back to help the ballclub in the bullpen, the Tigers could be on their way to playing the way the league feared they would and their fans expected to see.
