Tim Russert, Host of NBC’s Meet The Press, Dies at 58

Leading political journalist Tim Russert has died at the age of 58. Russert suffered a heart attack while at work. Attempts to revive him failed.

Russert became one of America’s leading political journalists as the host of NBC’s ‘Meet the Press.’ He joined NBC in 1984.

 

In 1985, Russert negotiated the first appearance of Pope John Paul II on American television. He began hosting ‘Meet the Press’ in 1991. In 2008, Russert was named one of the most influential people in the world by Time Magazine.

 

He also wrote two books, ‘Big Russ and Me’ and ‘Wisdom of Our Fathers.’
