Two People Arrested in “Disturbing” Maryland Murders

Authorities in Prince George’s County, Maryland have charged a man and a woman in the murders of two young girls, their mother and their aunt. Darrell Lynn Bellard, 43, and Tkeisha Nicole Gilmer, 18, were arrested and charged with first-degree murder on Friday.

Authorities believe Bellard and Gilmer are responsible for the shooting deaths of Dawn Yvette Brooks, 38, her daughters Shayla, 3, and Shakur, 4, and her sister, Mwasiti Sikyala, 41. Apparently the incident was a drug deal gone bad.

The victims’ bodies were found in a room above the garage of a Lanham home. Police say the room, which has no running water, toilet or air conditioning, was filled with garbage and containers of feces.

Police Chief Roberto Hylton described the crime scene as “horrific.”
