Hundreds of New Wildfires Start in Russia

Over the past 24 hours, hundreds of new wildfires have started in Russia, according to the country’s emergencies ministry. The ministry reports about 270 new fires have started, putting the total at 554.  

Severe drought and rising temperatures are fueling the flames. At least 52 people have died and dozens of others are hospitalized. The fires have led Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to impose a temporary ban on grain exports.
