Mob in South Africa Burns Mozambican Man Alive

A mob near Pretoria, South Africa attacked a Mozambican man on Saturday, stoning him and then setting him afire after accusing him of starting a fire the day before.

According to police in Atteridgeville township the 30-year-old man was bombarded by stones by a mob who thought he had set fire to several shacks on Friday. After stoning the man and robbing him of nearly $250(US) they then set him on fire.

Police arrested three men and have charged them with murder ad robbery in the case.

South Africa has seen a surge in violence against foreigners in the past several months. Many in South Africa blame foreigners for the rising costs, unemployment and growing violence. Recent attacks have claimed the lives of 62 foreigners while causing several thousand to flee.
