Chinese woman not allowed to marry her boyfriend
A transsexual woman fights for her right to marry her partner in Hong Kong.
The woman, who prefers to remain anonymous, was born a man in Hong Kong and always felt trapped inside a man's body. A few years ago, she finally underwent a sex realignment surgery at a public hospital.
Sex change surgery is allowed in Hong Kong, but the woman's birth certificate may not be changed. Because she is listed as a man according to her birth records, she is outlawed from marrying her boyfriend.
The woman, who identifies herself only as "W," plans to fight for her rights. She refuses to leave Hong Kong to marry her boyfriend elsewhere.
