Valley Meat Company has issued a recall for 1 million
points of ground beef because of possible E. coli O157:H7 contamination.
The affected products were produced between October 2,
2009 and January 12, 2010 and have the establishment number “EST. 8268.” They were
sold in California, Texas, Oregon, Arizona and overseas.
“Because most of the products are sold frozen, we are
working with our retailers to remove the affected products from grocery store
shelves, and to encourage consumers to dispose of products they may have at
home or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. The U.S.
Department of Agriculture (USDA) is working with us in retrieving products,”
the Modesto, California based company says in a post on their Web site.
