Taliban Fighters Overtake Several Villages in Southern Afghanistan

Taliban fighters have launched an offensive in southern Afghanistan and are said to have taken power in several villages just north of Kandahar.

NATO and Afghani forces have been redeployed to confront the militants.

Just three days ago a massive jail break in Kandahar freed more than 400 Taliban prisoners. The jail break was orchestrated by Taliban fighters who used a suicide bomber and rockets to free more than 1,500 inmates.
