Strong Earthquake Hits Vanuatu

A 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck the island nation of Vanuatu on Tuesday. The temblor was 27 miles deep and was located about 25 miles from Vanuatu’s capital, Port Villa.

A small tsunami measuring 9.2 inches struck Port Villa. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center cautioned there could be larger waves in other areas.

There were no immediate reports of serious damage or injuries. Vanuatu is located in the South Pacific Ocean between Fiji and Australia.
