Legislation for drugs: new tactic to reduce drug trafficking

Vicente Fox was a supporter in the US campaign against drugs, but now that over 28,000 lives have been lost in the Mexican war against drugs, Fox things legalization may be the only way to end the bloodbath. Fox points out that the loss of countless lives is not the only effect of the war. The crackdown on drug cartels has left Mexico with a tarnished international image and economy. Fox believe that legalizing the sale, usage, and production of drugs would weaken the power of cartels. President Calderon agreed to call a debate on this topic, but has made it clear that he himself disagrees with the legalization. He continues to push the Mexican army to fight for prohibition of drugs.
