Four Men Drown in American Falls Reservoir

A joke between four men turned deadly Sunday when they all drowned in a southern Idaho reservoir. Authorities say the men were “horsing around” on a boat in the American Falls Reservoir. One of the men jokingly pushed another man into the water not knowing he couldn’t swim.

A child on the boat called 911. Rescuers responded to the call but were unable to save the men. The bodies of Darrel Shappart, 57, Jared Hale, 26, Aaron Hale, 30, and Stephan Verbeck, 30, were found Monday.
