Woman Throws Newborn, 2 Children into Delaware River

Authorities began searching the Delaware River for three children Tuesday after their mother said she threw them off a bridge into the water. The unidentified woman told a nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania that she had just given birth to a baby and threw it into the water. She then told another nurse that she threw her 2-year-old and 4-year-old into the water also.

The U.S. Coast Guard and other law enforcement agencies are searching near the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. They are also trying to find the woman.
