The Navy Federal Credit Union suffered a massive power outage at its headquarters in Vienna, Virginia on Tuesday, causing many of its branches to have technical difficulties.
The Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) websites, which is located at http://www.navyfcu.org, was also reportedly down on Tuesday.
The message on the bank's automated telephone system Tuesday morning said phones could not be answered due to an emergency, and no message or answer is available now.
However, customers could still conduct some transactions inside the local branches.
The Navy Federal Credit Union, also known as the Navy Fed, is the largest retail credit union in the world in terms of membership and assets. Navy Fed had over $35 billion in assets, and over 3 million members.
Their membership will increase after it announced that it is expanding its services to all armed services.
The Navy Fed recently announced that its services will be available to all Navy, Marine Corps, Army, Air Force active duty, reserve, and guard personnel and all Department of Defense (DOD) civilians.
