Skeletal Remains Believed to be Those of Sylar Newton

Arizona authorities believe skeletal remains found near an Arizona campground are those of missing 2-year-old Sylar Newton. Sylar disappeared from the Beaver Creek Campgrounds in Rimrock on July 25. He was camping with his custodial mother, Christina Priem, and her children.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s office announced Tuesday the remains were less than 2 miles from the campground at the bottom of a wash. They believe flash flooding carried the body to where it was found.

"At this time, the remains are believed to be that of Sylar Newton, but final confirmation is still pending," the sheriff's office added.

Priem was in the process of adopting Sylar from his biological mother.
