“A contractor sanding a new coating of polystyrene expanding foam on the outside of the facility inadvertently caused spray and loose particulate to be drawn into the fresh air duct,” explains Kevin McKee, account executive of Pure Air’s Building Remediation Sciences department. “This impacted the ducts and coils on all 13 HVAC systems serving the facility, so Planet Hollywood contracted Pure Air to resolve the problem.”
Typically, Pure Air specialists utilize the most advanced vacuum collection systems in the industry—including HEPA-filtered cleaning components that create an air velocity of up to 6,000 cubic feet per minute—for ductwork remediation. However, because of Planet Hollywood’s unusual spherical design, Pure Air specialists opted to physically enter the ducts to environmentally remove the particulate from the walls.
In less than one month's time, on a thorough HVAC cleaning valued at $32,000, Pure Air specialists were able to work efficiently within the difficult conditions to complete the project on time and on budget. Pure Air employed an all-means-necessary approach to the project, and was able to clean the fresh air ducts and evaporator coils despite the facility’s architectural challenges.
As a result, Gregory DeBrango, facilities manager with Planet Hollywood stated that they are “extremely pleased with the Pure Air process, people, and remedial efforts for a job well done.”
