Cuban television aired a video Tuesday of an ailing Fidel Castro, showing for the first time in almost six months images of the 81-year-old former Cuban president.
The new video, which did not include audio, showed the ailing revolutionary looking frail but animated as he spoke with younger brother, current Cuban president Raul Castro, and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
Since falling ill more than two years ago, Fidel Castro has not been seen in public. His exact medical condition has been kept confidential since he underwent emergency intestinal surgery in late July 2006.
Raul Castro, who assumed provisional power over the country following his brother’s illness in 2006, was named president in February 2008.
