The Boston Celtics will have their commemorative parade on Thursday, two days after defeating the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2008 NBA Championship.
The Celtics defeated the Lakers in six games, clinching the NBA Finals series with a whopping 131-92 win Tuesday night.
Paul Pierce was named the Finals MVP as he won his first NBA title and the 17th in Celtics franchise history, an NBA record. This is the first title for Boston since Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish won the 1986 championship.
The championship parade will begin at the TD Banknorth Garden, then the team will travel down Causeway Street in duck boats. The parade will make its way to Tremont Street, past the Boston Common, onto Boylston Street and ending at Copley Square.
Boston police have asked the owners of establishments along the parade path to turn televisions away from their windows or to close their blinds during the parade.
The police will take extra security measures to ensure the safety of the general public and the business owners as thousands of fans are expected to show their Celtic pride while in attendance at the parade.
